Legal loansharks are nothing new, and as the Daily Mail reports:


100 years ago today – December 20, 1912 - Edwardian Britons were plagued by the same crippling propositions.


Researchers who examined historic newspaper front pages have found loans of up to £5,000 – nearly half a million pounds in today’s money – were on offer to ‘all trustworthy persons’.
