Searching Finance is delighted to announce that Duncan Weldon has signed with us to produce a sequence of books assessing Britain's economic predicament.
Regular visitors to this site will know that Warwick Lightfoot has been addressing these same issues on these very pages from a centre right perspective, Duncan, however, will be considering these problems from a left of centre stance. Is this a clumsy and contrived attempt by Searching Finance to generate a staged economic fight and gain column inches in the process?
The answer is yes.
Some more about Duncan? Here is Duncan on Duncan...
''I spent a couple of years working as an economist at the Bank of England and then four years in fund management, ending up as a partner in a small firm.
I then jacked it in and went to work for the Labour Party in January 2010. I worked in HQ in the run up to the 2010 election and then as economic advisor to the acting Leader for a couple of months after the election. I’m now working for an international trade union confederation.''
In addition Duncan runs the imaginatively titled Duncan's economic blog and is contributor to the recently published Going for Growth: http://www.ippr.org.uk/publicationsandreports/publication.asp?id=804
